ORIGINAL PAINTINGS

The 'Blue Planets' series is inspired by the shades, textures and shifting light of the Hebridean seas and night skies.

Each painting is unique and uses multiple layers of inks, enamels and acrylic paint to reflect the depth and colours of the natural sea and skyscapes around Katie's home on the Isle of Skye.
A final resin glaze enhances the water-effect.

Talking about her inspiration Katie says,
"I want my paintings to feel like you're looking over the side of a boat and seeing the way that the light dances in the water below.
But I also like to think that they can mirror the night sky above, the gold could be stars or galaxies against the turquoise nebulas.
I want to recreate that feeling of depth, whether you're looking down to the water or up to the sky."
